Aviation Week put on the MRO Americas on April 3rd-5th at the Dallas Convention Center. MRO stands for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul. MRO America is a top level conference and exhibition that goes well beyond the fundamentals of aviation to provide the attendees with skills, techniques and tools that will increase their chances for continued success.
The release of the VJ-Advance 3.9mm joystick controlled 4-way articulating video borescope has proven to be an incredible scope for the aviation industry. The compact light weight design makes it a perfect choice for field service technicians. The intuitive menu functions and easy to use articulation allows the VJ-ADV to be used by multiple technicians at the same facility.
The inspection applications are almost unlimited; castings, forms, turbines, airframes, fuel lines, landing gear and all intricate manufactured parts being supplied requiring the highest level of quality assurance.
Although we weren’t able to book a booth in time for the 2012 MRO, RF System lab wanted to continue to establish our presence in the aviation inspection industry. I walked the show for 2-straight days introducing my scope to key companies such as Exotic Metal Forming Company who has recently purchased one of our VJ-ADV 3.9mm 1.5meter units for manufacturing quality inspections. We are happy to announce that we have secured a great booth for the 2013 MRO Conference and Expo being held in Atlanta Georgia. We look forward to seeing you at the show! For more information on the 4mm or 6.9 (6mm) borescope you can to go to our website.
RF System Lab attended the 2012 AA&S Conference (Aircraft Airworthiness & Sustainment Conference) exhibiting the new VJ-Advance Video Borescope. The conference was attended by Aircraft Structural Integrity experts from around the world, representing the military and civilian aerospace industry. Major manufacturers of NDT technology and related fields presented their products during this outstanding venue.
The VJ-Advance Fully Articulating Video Borescope manufactured by RF System Lab received great praise as a high quality full featured borescope at a fraction of the price when compared to the GE and Olympus products at the show. The VJ-ADV 3.9mm video borescope stood out as the most easy to use, lightweight and portable scope, perfectly suited for all airframe inspection requirements. With photo, video and audio capture capability, documenting inspections and sharing downloads is as easy as the VJ-Adv is on the bottom line. Military and civilian industry leaders value quality at a competitive price and RF System Lab has delivered with the new VJ-Advance Video Borescope available in a 3.9mm and 6.9mm diameter insertion tube with lengths ranging from 1.5 meters to 5.0 meters.
Great show, great opportunities, great contacts. The VJ-ADV will be the top selling airframe/corrosion/FOD scope on the market. If you want to learn more about how you can utilize the VJ-Advance in your Aviation applications click on borescope.

The AWEA Wind Power tradeshow in Atlanta Georgia was overwhelming due to the vast number of exhibitors and attendees. RF System lab was proud to become a member of AWEA (American Wind Energy Association) and participate at the Expo. We decided to attend after having recent success in the Wind Turbine industry.
The release of the VJ-ADV 3.9mm 1.5meter and VJ-ADV 3.9mm 3.0meter 4-way joystick controlled articulating video borescopes has kicked the door wide open for us in the wind turbine inspection service industry. The manual direct drive articulation of the VJ-Advance and light weight portable, ergonomic pistol grip design makes this a perfect choice for Gearbox and Generator inspections.
RF System Lab and the VJ-Advance line of video borescopes have become known as the Top performing low cost alternative to the Olympus and GE (Everest) lines of borescopes. Our unique articulation design eliminates the delay or lag time associated with when you move the joystick to when the head of the scope actually articulates. This gives feedback on the whether the head of the scope is restricted or is free to be articulated. This user friendly feature is very handy when getting in and out of the bearings to inspect the race.
Everyone at the tradeshow was impressed with our No Cost, No Obligation demo trial program that allows me to directly ship a scope to the interested potential customer so he can test and evaluate it in the type of equipment they most often inspect. If you have some EOW (end of warranty) inspections coming up, that is a great opportunity to take advantage of our demo program.

I had a wonderful experience at the Regional Airline Association Convention in Minneapolis, MN. This was RF System Lab‘s first time attending and exhibiting our VJ- ADV Video Borescope at this convention, and we will certainly be attending again next year. The convention had a very diverse range of attendee’s and exhibitors, from the big companies like Pratt & Whitney and Bombardier to many single location exhibitors.
I was fortunate enough to attend several of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sponsored symposiums on a wide range of subjects including in-flight safety, overall airline operations, and aviation maintenance. One of my favorite things about attending any type of convention is the opportunity to learn so much, and I feel like in the aviation industry, there is always something new to learn.
We had hundreds of people stop by the booth and check out both the 3.9mm outside diameter and the 6.9mm outside diameter. Whether it was an Airline Execute, a Director of Maintenance, and Line Maintenance Manager, or someone in a Quality Control Department on the aviation production side, the positive response is really overwhelming. People rave about the ergonomic pistol grip design, the seamless 4 way articulation through the joystick control, and the extreme portability. I always enjoy hearing, “My first video borescope rolled around in a big suitcase. I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW LIGHT THIS IS!”. The Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) folks constantly told me how great the VJ-ADV would work on their PT6 and other high end turbine engine inspections.
One of my favorite parts of the Regional Airline Association tradeshow was passion the people had for aviation. I heard more than once, not only do I work with in this type of capacity for the aviation industry, but airplanes are my hobby. I own this type of plane, and always thought a high end borescope would be out of my budget. Particularly when the pilots were referring to their personal reciprocating engines, they told me the 6.9mm outside diameter would be more than small enough to complete their inspections.
I just got back from the Cygnus Aviation Expo in Las Vegas. The show was held at the Las Vegas convention center and it hosted aviation maintenance attendees as well as Ground Support Equipment. The show was great! We met so many great people from all over the U.S. and throughout the world.
This was our first time attending this particular expo and with the introduction of our 3.9mm borescope it was perfect timing to start talking video borescopes with the aviation industry. The feedback we received on the scope was incredible. People couldn’t believe how lightweight and easy our VJ-ADV was to use. Some attendees that had never used a borescope before were able to pick up the VJ-ADV and start doing an inspection.
On the flip side we also had attendees that had been working with borescopes for years and had never seen the VJ-Advance. The feedback from these users was that they had never seen a scope with that kind of picture quality that wasn’t the size of a suitcase.
Our 3.9mm video borescope is great for the aviation industry because it allows users to complete inspections quickly and easily without having to lug around a large archaic borescope. Not only are we smaller and lightweight but we offer an incredible price. If you want to learn more about our new version of the 4mm borescope please click on borescope
