For the third year in a row, RF System Lab will be exhibiting at the Turbomachinery and Pump Symposia (Better known as the Turbo and Pump Symposia). The Symposia, which is taking place at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX from September 22-25, 2014, brings together professionals from the petrochemical, process, chemical utility, and rotating equipment manufacturers from all over the world.
This year’s event features tutorials, case studies, lectures, courses and exhibits showcasing the latest services and products for the industry. As stated by the event website, “the Symposia is an outstanding value for users concerned with maintenance, performance, troubleshooting, operation and purchase of rotating equipment.”
Borescope expert Casey O’Tool will be representing RF System Lab in the exhibit hall at booth #1335. He will be offering free demos of the VJ-Advance (VJ-ADV) articulating video borescope and answering questions about how the joystick-controlled, 4-way articulating VJ-ADV can assist maintenance professionals to confidently complete pump and rotating equipment inspections. RF System Lab understands that in the petrochemical and power generation industries, the cost of downtime — whether because of an equipment failure or scheduled maintenance – is measured in hours, not days. Whether you work on compressors, pumps, valves, heat exchangers – even mud motors – the VJ-Advance’s numerous features can make your job faster and easier.
This year’s Turbo and Pump Symposia is offering a free pass for the exhibit hall, which you can sign up for right here. For more information about the Turbo and Pump Symposia, visit the conference website.

In 2011, President Obama and Prime Minister Harper publicized the US-Canada joint declaration titled “Beyond the Border: A Shared Vision for Perimeter Security and Economic Competitiveness.” The US/Canada Border Conference promises to bring together local, state, provincial, and federal agencies, as well as business organizations, in a location convenient to both nations, to advance this important agenda between the United States and Canada. The central location of choice for the US/Canada Border Conference, which is coming up September 16-17, 2014, is the Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan.
RF System Lab’s VP of Government Programs and retired Naval Commander, Joel Riling, will be making the drive from our Traverse City, Michigan headquarters to represent our company as a sponsor for this year’s event. We are honored for the opportunity to sponsor and look forward to connecting with government and industry leaders during the conference. Attendees interested in demoing our VJ-Advance articulating video borescope and finding out more about how it greatly assists with security measures can visit Joel at the RF System Lab display table.
For more information about both the US/Canada Border Conference and the Beyond the Border declaration, visit the conference website.

Learn more about the importance and usage of thinner diameter borescopes in the latest edition of Aviation Maintenance Magazine. The article features the ultra-thin VJ-Advance 2.8mm articulating video borescope; we were pleased to provide insight into how smaller borescopes are opening up a plethora of new inspection capabilities, especially in the aviation and aerospace industries.
The Fleet Maintenance & Modernization Symposium (FMMS) 2014 is specifically designed to provide valuable information and networking opportunities for those who are involved in maintenance, refit, repair, conversion, modernization, service, and support of naval ships and craft. The theme for FMMS 2014 is “Delivering Readiness in Austere Times.”
A recent and exciting announcement regarding FMMS is that the Department of the Navy has approved government participation for FMMS 2014. This means that registration is free for all military and government personnel and participation by local government and military personnel at no cost to the government is authorized subject to local command approval.
FMMS offers attendees and exhibitors many educational “bonus” opportunities. One example is the Ship Tour, which allows interested parties a chance to gather at the Norfolk Naval Base and tour one of the amphibious ships on Monday, September 8th.
Joel Riling, RF System Lab’s VP of Government Programs and retired Naval Commander will once again be onsite exhibiting the VJ-Advance (VJ-ADV) video borescope at this year’s FMMS. He is looking forward to introducing fellow naval professionals involved with the maintenance and care of ships and craft to the versatile, fully-articulating VJ-ADV and showing them how it can simplify their remote visual inspections. Riling will be located at booth #F08 – make sure to stop by and test out the joystick-controlled VJ-ADV.
