The Automotive Testing Expo is one of the tradeshows that RF System Lab sales consultants can’t wait to get to every year. The automotive industry is so vast and competitive that employees from every manufacturer are sure to attend. Searching for a way to eliminate recalls and gain that competitive edge, exhibitors are always eager to get their hands on the VJ-Advance (VJ-ADV) video borescope from RF System Lab.
Borescope experts Casey O’Tool and Chad Parker manned the RF System Lab booth at 2015 Auto Testing Expo. When asked about the show, both reps conveyed how it was a great chance to reconnect with current RF System Lab customers and to meet some of them in person for the first time.
It wasn’t all just handshakes and catching up. The RF System Lab booth was “extremely busy” for most of the show while Casey and Chad were able to introduce first-time exhibitors to the VJ-Advance video borescope. The picture above shows how glad RF System Lab was to be able to send not one, but two of our borescope experts to this “mega-show”.

The second quarter of 2015 is off to a good start for RF System Lab. We are proud to announce a group of impressive companies from a variety of industries as their latest VJ-Advance (VJ-ADV) borescope customers. A few of the industries represented below include aviation, power generation, automotive, and casting.
Representing our newest customers in the aviation industry are Ryan Air and Rotortech Services. Ryan Air, an Alaska Bush carrier that specializes in air cargo shipping, required an inspection camera for PT6 turbine inspections on fixed-wing aircraft. They selected the portable VJ-ADV because of its ability to operate fully in rugged conditions and extremely low temperatures. Rotortech Services, located in the much warmer Palm Beach, Florida, provides state-of-the-art maintenance and repair services to helicopters. They took advantage of our free demo program after visiting RF System Lab’s booth at this year’s HAI Heli Expo. Rotortech utilizes the VJ-ADV for Turbomeca Arriel inspections on Airbus rotorcraft. The extreme portability of the AA-battery powered VJ-ADV, weighing in at less than 2lbs, was a big factor in Rotortech’s purchasing decision.
Consolidated Edison (Con Edison) is a new VJ-Advance video borescope user in the power generation industry. Con Edison, one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the United States, was looking for a high-quality tool to complete internal transformer inspections. The power company selected the 6.9mm diameter VJ-Advance video borescope for their routine internal RVI of their transformer generators. Con Edison needed to complete these routine inspections with oil still present in the transformers, which is why they selected the VJ-ADV, whose sturdy insertion tube can be submerged and still articulate without issue.
We at RF System Lab are proud to have an important member of the automotive industry, Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA Group). FCA Group, an international auto group that is a merger of Fiat and Chrysler, needed a video borescope to inspect the body-side box chambers on the vehicles they manufacture. They had been using a snap-on borescope but were looking to invest in a higher quality tool that featured precise articulation. RF System Lab is grateful that FCA Group made the investment in the VJ-ADV to complete future inspections.
Joining our list of clients in the casting industry is Fredon Corporation. Fredon Corporation, a company that specializes in intricate parts, assemblies, and materials, was looking for the best inspection camera for ensuring the complete removal of burrs and residual sand. The super-slim 3.9mm VJ-ADV was able to smoothly and efficiently navigate through critical core passageways to check for any signs of FOD, which made Fredon’s purchase decision an easy one.
We would like to thank these clients, as well as all other companies that became customers at the start of the second quarter. RF System Lab would like to announce new clients from the month of March. The newest owners of the VJ-Advance video borescope (VJ-ADV) come from multiple industries, including automotive, aviation, and oil & gas.
One of our newest customers in the aviation industry is Island Helicopters. This Hawaiian rotorcraft company offers both a Kauai Grand Tour and an exclusive Jurassic Falls (made famous by the Jurassic Park movies) tour. Because their helicopters must make multiple trips each day with civilians on board, they must ensure that all parts are in top-notch condition. The need for quality checks done with complete confidence is why Island Helicopters chose the VJ-ADV as their inspection tool. With its lightweight portability and easy-to-use joystick-controlled articulation, the VJ-ADV was an obvious choice for making sure passengers are safe on their scenic tours.
Another VJ-Advance video borescope user is ExxonMobil, the world’s largest publicly traded international oil & gas company. ExxonMobil was searching for a video borescope that was portable and easy to use for compressor inspections. The hand-held VJ-ADV, weighing less than 2lbs, met all of the company’s requirements. The VJ-ADV’s ergonomic pistol-grip design makes it the ideal tool for companies that value stress-free and efficient internal inspections.
RF System Lab acquired another aviation customer in March: AeroMaritime. AeroMaritime is a Rolls-Royce Authorized Maintenance Repair & Overhaul Center. The company also performs Pratt & Whitney PW200 series field service, making the VJ-ADV an excellent tool for their inspection needs. The four-way articulating 3.9 VJ-ADV fits seamlessly with Pratt & Whitney guide tube, which greatly assists with MRO inspections.
We are proud to have Harley Davidson, a major American motorcycle company, as a new customer in the automotive industry. Harley Davidson is utilizing the VJ-ADV for engine inspections. More specifically, the motorcycle company is troubleshooting problems by filming injectors while engines are running in different start-up conditions. The VJ-ADV’s 360 articulation, slim insertion tube diameters, and on-board video recording capabilities – offered at an affordable price point – were big factors in the purchasing decision.
We at RF System Lab would like to thank these new clients, as well as many additional clients not listed here. Companies interested in demoing the VJ-Advance video borescope can sign up for our no-cost, no-obligation demo program. RF System Lab is proud to announce big names in multiple industries that recently invested in the VJ-ADV. New customers include companies from industries such as aviation, power generation, railway, and chemical manufacturing.
The first of RF System Lab’s newest customers comes from the aviation industry. Critical Care Medflight, a certified air ambulance service provider, was sold on the VJ-ADV after an unpleasant experience with a competitor’s scope. Critical Care Medflight required a repair on their previous borescope, but when they found out that the service would cost them almost as much money as the tool itself, they decided to purchase a VJ-ADV instead. Our low-cost of ownership is just one of the reasons that Critical Care Medflight invested in the articulating VJ-ADV.
Another new VJ-Advance video borescope user is Sempra, a leader in power generation. Sempra, named one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” by Fortune for 2015, purchased two VJ-Advance articulating video borescopes for two very different applications. The purchase included a 5m VJ-ADV, its long length made it perfect for piping inspections, and a 1.5m VJ-ADV, which will be used for inspecting cylinders on compressors. We are grateful to be able to call this industry leader one of their new clients.
Representing the Railway industry is GBW Railcar Services. This joint-venture between Greenbrier and Watco created one of the largest independent railcar repair shop networks on the continent. RF System Lab is proud to know that they are utilizing the VJ-ADV for their rail needs; specifically for inspecting the integrity of welds in tank car jackets. Without a high-quality inspection tool, confirming weld integrity on tank cars would require a full-removal of the jacket, leading to much more work and additional expenses. Additionally, RF System Lab is looking forward to connecting with GBW Railcar services at Railway Interchange, taking place in Minneapolis, MN on October 4-6 of this year.
RF System Lab is proud to have DOW Union Carbide as a continued VJ-ADV customer. DOW had already purchased units for multiple locations, but the VJ-ADVs were used so frequently that they required additional units. DOW relies on the VJ-ADV to confidently complete quality inspections of their chemical manufacturing equipment.
We would like to thank these clients, as well as all other new clients not listed here. If you would like to demo the VJ-Advance video borescope, you can sign up for a no-cost, no-obligation demo program. For more information on RF System Lab, please visit our website or call 855-787-6966 to speak with one of our borescope experts about your specific internal inspection needs.

Embraer is using the 3.9mm diameter VJ-ADV for turbine inspections; one of the most popular uses for the articulating inspection camera. We are proud to have one of the biggest names is aviation as one of our first customers in the New Year.
From the Automotive Industry, Valiant Machine & Tool is another company that purchased a VJ-ADV in the month of January. Valiant Machine & Tool, a Tier 1 Automotive supplier, required an inspection camera for internally inspecting small oil passageways on engines. They selected the VJ-ADV video borescope for its extremely thin diameter and 360 articulation; perfect for easily navigating small passageways.
We are looking forward to returning to The Chem Show this year, especially after meeting one of our newest clients, Kopetz Manufacturing, at the 2013 show. Kopetz Manufacturing, a custom plate fabrication facility, is using the VJ-ADV to perform quality checks to confirm the internal quality of tubing. Kopetz Manufacturing creates products using high-grade alloys, so it is imperative that their final products are also of the highest quality. The VJ-ADV internally inspects the tubing to ensure that are no traces of FOD or cracks. The VJ-ADV easily illuminates the inside of the tubing with its variable LED lighting and makes quality checks stress-free.
Another new VJ-ADV videoscope user, representing the Aerospace industry, is North Star Aerospace. All equipment used for testing purposes within Northstar Aerospace must meet stringent requirements. The VJ-ADV exceeded all of the requirements and was an easy decision based upon the ease of use, price point, and customer service offered. We are glad that the articulating VJ-ADV is an addition to the testing equipment used by a company that strives to provide service beyond expectations.
ATK, a global leader in the defense and weaponry industries, is a company that RF System Lab is proud to have as one of last month’s customers. ATK is using the VJ-ADV for weapon barrel inspections. They required a portable, reliable unit to internally inspect weapons in the field. The handheld VJ-ADV, which runs on standard AA batteries and weighs in at only 23oz, was the perfect fit.
