Early this month, Aviation maintenance professionals took over Portland, OR for the NBAA MMC (Maintenance Management Conference). The conference brought together high-caliber educational programming, many networking opportunities, and an exhibit hall full of products and services specifically for business aircraft maintenance and support.
RF System Lab‘s Jess Kuznicki, an expert in the topic of borescopes for aviation, showcase the VJ-Advance articulating video borescope in the exhibit hall and was able to meet many extremely qualified individuals; a sign of a great show. In fact, the RF System Lab booth was located right next to West Star Aviation, a current customer.
“NBAA MMC has all of the aviation-industry professionals that you’d ever want to talk to…all under one roof. It’s the perfect show for us,” stated Kuznicki.
This year’s NBAA MMC boasted a high-record attendance, which could be because of the excellent educational sessions offered, in combination with fun, social opportunities. Gulfstream’s Casino-themed social event was a huge hit and a great way to catch up with fellow business-aviation enthusiasts.
RF System Lab will be in attendance at next year’s show. If you missed the chance to visit the RF System Lab booth at the 2015 NBAA MMC, you should still try out the VJ-Advance video borescope at your own facility – free of charge. Sign up for RF System Lab’s no cost, no obligation demo program so that you can try out the VJ-Advance video borescope on your own equipment.
The Regional Air Cargo Carriers Association (RACCA) Annual Conference took place in Scottsdale, Arizona the last week of April. Casey O’Tool, RF System Lab’s Senior Sales Consultant, was in attendance at this year’s conference for the first time and had nothing but great things to say.
While RACCA is a smaller event (with around 200 people registered), the attendees are the exact end-users that any exhibitor would want to reach. Casey O’Tool had a great experience as one of the table top exhibitors and got the opportunity to present the VJ-Advance video borescope to some extremely qualified companies, including some current customers such as Prime Turbines, Embraer, and Vector Air.
RACCA is a clear favorite among company executives. “It had a really nice ‘vacation-like’ vibe, while still offering a wide variety of informational technical sessions featuring the most pressing topics. I can see why it’s a well-liked show,” explained Casey O’Tool. Some of the big issues being covered included the Pilot Shortage and emerging issues with the next generation of aviation professionals. RACCA also threw a fun poolside barbeque one of the nights of the conference, where O’Tool had the chance to network with fellow exhibitors and attendees.
Overall, RACCA 2015 was a small-scale show that had a big impact with those in attendance. We’re looking forward to next year!

2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the Regional Airlines Association (RAA) Annual Conference; an exciting milestone for any industry event. RF System Lab is excited to exhibit at RAA’s 40th year on May 11-14 at the Cleveland Convention Center in Cleveland, OH.
The event is packed full of networking opportunities, educational meeting tracks, Q&As, keynote speakers, and an exhibit hall featuring airline suppliers, new technological advances, and service providers.
To kick off the conference, RAA is hosting their traditional golf tournament on Monday, May 10th as a way to network and chat with peers in the industry before the conference kicks off on Tuesday. RAA is also throwing a closing night “Journey Back to 1975” themed 40th birthday bash on Wednesday, May 13th at Pickwick & Frolic, called “Cleveland’s most vibrant and electric restaurant and club.”
After he finishes on the golf course, RF System Lab’s Chad Parker is going to be onsite at the conference exhibit hall at booth #210. We will be providing attendees with the latest advances in remote visual inspection (RVI); specifically video borescope technology. The groundbreaking VJ-Advance video borescope will also be one of the impressive products featured in RAA’s “Innovation Hour.” Stop by booth #210 for a demonstration of how the features of the VJ-Advance make RVI of aviation components stress-free. RF System Lab would like to announce new clients from the month of March. The newest owners of the VJ-Advance video borescope (VJ-ADV) come from multiple industries, including automotive, aviation, and oil & gas.
One of our newest customers in the aviation industry is Island Helicopters. This Hawaiian rotorcraft company offers both a Kauai Grand Tour and an exclusive Jurassic Falls (made famous by the Jurassic Park movies) tour. Because their helicopters must make multiple trips each day with civilians on board, they must ensure that all parts are in top-notch condition. The need for quality checks done with complete confidence is why Island Helicopters chose the VJ-ADV as their inspection tool. With its lightweight portability and easy-to-use joystick-controlled articulation, the VJ-ADV was an obvious choice for making sure passengers are safe on their scenic tours.
Another VJ-Advance video borescope user is ExxonMobil, the world’s largest publicly traded international oil & gas company. ExxonMobil was searching for a video borescope that was portable and easy to use for compressor inspections. The hand-held VJ-ADV, weighing less than 2lbs, met all of the company’s requirements. The VJ-ADV’s ergonomic pistol-grip design makes it the ideal tool for companies that value stress-free and efficient internal inspections.
RF System Lab acquired another aviation customer in March: AeroMaritime. AeroMaritime is a Rolls-Royce Authorized Maintenance Repair & Overhaul Center. The company also performs Pratt & Whitney PW200 series field service, making the VJ-ADV an excellent tool for their inspection needs. The four-way articulating 3.9 VJ-ADV fits seamlessly with Pratt & Whitney guide tube, which greatly assists with MRO inspections.
We are proud to have Harley Davidson, a major American motorcycle company, as a new customer in the automotive industry. Harley Davidson is utilizing the VJ-ADV for engine inspections. More specifically, the motorcycle company is troubleshooting problems by filming injectors while engines are running in different start-up conditions. The VJ-ADV’s 360 articulation, slim insertion tube diameters, and on-board video recording capabilities – offered at an affordable price point – were big factors in the purchasing decision.
We at RF System Lab would like to thank these new clients, as well as many additional clients not listed here. Companies interested in demoing the VJ-Advance video borescope can sign up for our no-cost, no-obligation demo program. Last week’s Aerospace Maintenance Competition provided an uplifting look into the future of aviation and aerospace maintenance. Fourteen teams competed in the School Division of the 2015 Aerospace Maintenance Competition (AMC); a skill-based event that took place during last week’s 2015 MRO Americas.
Zack Wessels, RF System Lab borescope expert, was onsite at AMC for the duration of the event and was extremely impressed with the caliber of teams competing; especially the college teams. “It was great to see a high-level of teamwork and problem solving skills from the teams in the school division… it was an exciting look into what to expect from future AMTs/AMEs,” said Wessels.
RF System Lab sponsored the event and also donated a VJ-Advance video borescope that was awarded to the winning college team. After a grueling two-day competition, Salt Lake Community College was crowned the winning team for the School division. In addition to earning the title of First Place Team in the School division, Salt Lake Community College took home a plethora of prizes, including the high-quality VJ-Advance articulation video borescope.
We would like to congratulate Salt Lake Community College on their victory, as well as all the other teams who came out to compete in this year’s AMC!
