The Special Operations Forces Industry Conference, better known as SOFIC, is taking place in Tampa, FL on May 20-22, 2014 at the Tampa Convention Center. This year’s conference theme is “Strengthening the Global SOF Network” and promises to “provide a forum for military, government, academia, and industry stakeholders to network and discuss current and future challenges and hot to best support our Special Operations Forces around the globe.”

Joel Riling, RF System Lab’s VP of Government Programs, is looking forward to the opportunity to network with fellow military professionals, see informative presentations and leader panels, enjoy the SOCOM Annual Awards Presentation, and above all – present and demo the VJ-Advance (VJ-ADV) video borescope at the technology exhibitions.

SOFIC is an excellent fit for the VJ-ADV, which is used by every branch of the US Military and all major defense contractors. The VJ-Advance offers a combination of high-end optics, portability, and features unique to the world of remote visual inspection, which makes it the scope of choice when it comes to many military inspection scenarios – especially those utilized by Special Operations Forces.

If you would like to test drive the VJ-ADV for yourself at SOFIC, you can meet Joel, along with Leland Browning and Eddie Griffiths at booth #2002 starting on May 20th at 10:00am. We look forward to seeing you there!

On April 30th and May 1st, RF System Lab’s VP for Government Programs, Joel Riling, was scheduled to exhibit at the Global EOD Conference and Exhibition in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not get the memo and continuous torrential downpour turned into flooded streets, which meant that the conference was cancelled on April 30th due to unsafe conditions. Luckily, the weather improved on May 1st, which meant the Global EOD Conference and Exhibition was back on track!

Joel Riling had plenty of good things to say about the time that he was able to exhibit and network with EOD professionals. According to Riling, one of the best parts of the conference was that the VJ-Advance (VJ-ADV) video borescope is being recognized as a leader in EOD scopes, so there was a tremendous amount of interest, which meant many parties were interested in trying out the VJ-ADV for themselves.

The VJ-ADV is a great fit for this industry, and is currently used by bomb squads involved with military EOD as well as training programs for counter IED. Riling mentioned that one of the main uses for the borescope is hand entry procedure. The VJ-ADV is extremely useful in these types of investigative procedures because of its hand-held, easy-to-use operation, joy-stick controlled articulation and high-quality image capturing. When dealing with issues as sensitive and complex as bomb detection, these features are not only beneficial, but crucial.

Another notable event that was still able to occur, despite the temperamental weather, was a social event held on a pirate ship that was sponsored by Inert Products, LLC. The party featured a live local band, endless food and drink, a cruise around the bay and a chance to catch up with industry leaders.

Despite the weather, the Global EOD Conference was a huge success. If you were unable to test drive the VJ-Advance video borescope at the Global EOD Conference and Exhibition, we would like to offer you a free trial. To make the decision process easy, we offer the industry’s only no-cost, no-obligation demo program so you can evaluate the VJ-Advance line of video borescopes in your facility doing your inspections, before you decide to buy.

AUVSI Unmanned Systems 2014 is the next stop for the VJ-Advance (VJ-ADV) video borescope. This conference is taking place May 12-15 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The conference promises to bring together renowned thought leaders in the robotics/aerial robotics industry – RF System Lab is looking forward to being one of them.

After perusing the AUVSI Unmanned Systems website, we have come up with our list of the top five items to get excited about.

  1. A group of very impressive keynote speakers who are sure to give impactful and interesting speeches. This year’s speakers include Mike Walsh, best-selling author of FUTURETAINMENT and CEO of Tomorrow, an innovative research lab, Louis Mead Treadwell II, Lieutenant Governor of Alaska, Frank LoBiondo, U.S. Congressman (R-N.J.), Dr. Vijay Kumar, UPS Foundation Professor, School of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Pennsylvania.
  2. Space Florida is hosting an unmanned air and ground systems demo on Sunday. The all-day demo is titled the 2014 Unmanned Systems Demonstration and focuses on value of unmanned systems in non-defense commercial and civil applications.
  3. Can’t get enough demos? Neither can we. Luckily there will be an additional demo on the AUVSI Unmanned Systems show floor from Tuesday-Thursday called “Robots in Action” for attendees and exhibitors viewing pleasure.
  4. The “Beyond the Booth Showcase,” which will show off the most recent product releases and partnership opportunities from companies that are exhibiting. This will also be taking place on the exhibit floor, making it easily accessible.
  5. The chance for RF System Lab VP of Government Programs, Joel Riling and his friend and associate Leland Browning to network with robotics professionals and converse about issues in the unmanned systems industry.

Joel Riling and Leland Brown will be onsite to provide demonstrations of the VJ-ADV and show the unmanned systems industry how they can improve inspections with low-cost, high-caliber video borescopes. Joel Riling shared his insight on the VJ-ADV, stating: “The ultra-lightweight and portable remote visual inspection system offers technicians world class imagery and intuitive operation. It is a fast growing favorite… in fact, it’s currently used by every branch of the U.S. military. Featuring insertion tube diameters of 2.8mm, 3.9mm or 6.9mm, the VJ-Advance provides exceptional versatility required by unmanned systems professionals.”

Stop by and see Joel Riling at the RF System Lab booth #1653 starting on Tuesday, May 13th at 10:15am for a chance to demo the groundbreaking VJ-ADV.
