Last week’s Aerospace Maintenance Competition provided an uplifting look into the future of aviation and aerospace maintenance. Fourteen teams competed in the School Division of the 2015 Aerospace Maintenance Competition (AMC); a skill-based event that took place during last week’s 2015 MRO Americas.
Zack Wessels, RF System Lab borescope expert, was onsite at AMC for the duration of the event and was extremely impressed with the caliber of teams competing; especially the college teams. “It was great to see a high-level of teamwork and problem solving skills from the teams in the school division… it was an exciting look into what to expect from future AMTs/AMEs,” said Wessels.
RF System Lab sponsored the event and also donated a VJ-Advance video borescope that was awarded to the winning college team. After a grueling two-day competition, Salt Lake Community College was crowned the winning team for the School division. In addition to earning the title of First Place Team in the School division, Salt Lake Community College took home a plethora of prizes, including the high-quality VJ-Advance articulation video borescope.
We would like to congratulate Salt Lake Community College on their victory, as well as all the other teams who came out to compete in this year’s AMC!

With the Aerospace Maintenance Competition quickly approaching, RF System Lab is gearing up to prepare for our first year of sponsorship for this skill-based competition. We’ve talked to many of the schools competing, who are looking forward to have a chance at winning the VJ-Advance video borescope, and have connected with fellow sponsors to spread awareness about AMC.
One sponsor we’d like to highlight is the Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA). The ARSA is a repeat sponsor of AMC and are an extremely important part of the Aviation Maintenance industry. The ARSA produced an informational and interesting video, developed as part of the Leading Edge video series. The 2015 MRO Americas, taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, FL on April 14-16, will host the Annual Aerospace Maintenance Competition (AMC). AMC is a skill-based competition where teams of certified Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, international and domestic Armed Forces personnel involved in aircraft/spacecraft maintenance, and students enrolled in either FAA, EASA, CASA, or equivalently authorized schools will compete to show off their aerospace maintenance skills.
Teams of five are divided into competition categories of Commercial Aviation, General Aviation, Space, School, Military, and MRO/OEM. They then compete in a timed competition against other teams in their category by testing their knowledge and skills in 16 scheduled events that highlight the principles of the AMT and AME craft and profession.
RF System Lab is proud to be a sponsor of AMC 2015. In addition to their sponsorship, we are donating a VJ-Advance articulating video borescope to the winning team in the School category. Out of the 42 teams competing in this year’s AMC, five of those teams are made up of students working to obtain certification through aviation schools.
We are excited to be able to provide the winning students an opportunity to enhance their studies with the VJ-Advance. The new RF System Lab website was designed with the user in mind and has been created using the latest site design platform, allowing optimal presentation on all mobile devices and web browsers. Whether you’re viewing the site on a widescreen, a tablet or a smart phone, it will cater to your device so that you can easily access essential product information.
RF System Lab’s new site provides visitors a chance to effortlessly view product testimonials, borescope inspection photos, and detailed product descriptions and images. Another benefit of the site is the Success Stories page, which provides case studies and testimonials from satisfied RF System Lab customers. Categorized by industry and application to allow users to easily find the most relevant information, there are borescope case studies pertaining to: aviation/aerospace, automotive, industrial pumps, and more.
The new website provides a fresh, updated look and feel for all of the information from the previous site, in addition to a variety of new features.
