2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the Regional Airlines Association (RAA) Annual Conference; an exciting milestone for any industry event. RF System Lab is excited to exhibit at RAA’s 40th year on May 11-14 at the Cleveland Convention Center in Cleveland, OH.

The event is packed full of networking opportunities, educational meeting tracks, Q&As, keynote speakers, and an exhibit hall featuring airline suppliers, new technological advances, and service providers.

To kick off the conference, RAA is hosting their traditional golf tournament on Monday, May 10th as a way to network and chat with peers in the industry before the conference kicks off on Tuesday. RAA is also throwing a closing night “Journey Back to 1975” themed 40th birthday bash on Wednesday, May 13th at Pickwick & Frolic, called “Cleveland’s most vibrant and electric restaurant and club.”

After he finishes on the golf course, RF System Lab’s Chad Parker is going to be onsite at the conference exhibit hall at booth #210. We will be providing attendees with the latest advances in remote visual inspection (RVI); specifically video borescope technology. The groundbreaking VJ-Advance video borescope will also be one of the impressive products featured in RAA’s “Innovation Hour.” Stop by booth #210 for a demonstration of how the features of the VJ-Advance make RVI of aviation components stress-free. Attendees will also be able to try out the VJ-Advance for themselves and watch a live demo of an internal inspection.

Don’t miss your chance to visit the RF System Lab booth #210 starting on Tuesday, May 12th at 2:00pm for a chance to demo the groundbreaking VJ-ADV.

The Regional Airlines Association (RAA) Annual Conference celebrated its 39th year, and RF System Lab Sales Consultants J. St. John and Edward Thomas we’re extremely glad to be a part of the event. RAA 2014 took place last week at the St. Louis Convention Center in St. Louis; Missouri and North American Regional Airlines and supplies were very well represented.

This well-attended trade show is one that we at RF System Lab have attended year after year… and we have no intention of ending that pattern. J. St. John recapped the event and had some extremely positive feedback.

The first thing he mentioned was the quality and relevance of the speeches given in the exhibit hall, which included a keynote from FAA Administrator Michael Huerta as well as a general session on the pilot shortage, which is currently a major issue in the world of aviation.  St. John was also very impressed that the President of RAA, Roger Cohen, personally went booth to booth to make sure all exhibitors were having the best experience possible.

Another notable success was that St. John was able to sell a VJ-Advance (VJ-ADV) 2.8mm video borescope to another exhibitor, who had the scope in hand and was able to take it with him that day! That exhibitor was from Millenium International, an avionics sales and services company. Not only is an on-site sale an exciting event, but this sale has helped to add further validation that the VJ-ADV, especially the ultra-thin 2.8mm, is a great fit for the avionics and small equipment industries.

RAA 2014 was a success all-around, and the RF System Lab team is already making plans to attend next year’s event. If you were unable to test drive the VJ-Advance video borescope at RAA 2014, we would like to offer you a free trial. To make the decision process easy, we offer the industry’s only no-cost, no-obligation demo program so you can evaluate the VJ-Advance line of video borescopes in your facility doing your inspections, before you decide to buy.

I had a wonderful experience at the Regional Airline Association Convention in Minneapolis, MN.  This was RF System Lab‘s first time attending and exhibiting our VJ- ADV Video Borescope at this convention, and we will certainly be attending again next year.   The convention had a very diverse range of attendee’s and exhibitors, from the big companies like Pratt & Whitney and Bombardier to many single location exhibitors.

I was fortunate enough to attend several of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sponsored symposiums on a wide range of subjects including in-flight safety, overall airline operations, and aviation maintenance.  One of my favorite things about attending any type of convention is the opportunity to learn so much, and I feel like in the aviation industry, there is always something new to learn.

We had hundreds of people stop by the booth and check out both the 3.9mm outside diameter and the 6.9mm outside diameter.  Whether it was an Airline Execute, a Director of Maintenance, and Line Maintenance Manager, or someone in a Quality Control Department on the aviation production side, the positive response is really overwhelming.  People rave about the ergonomic pistol grip design, the seamless 4 way articulation through the joystick control, and the extreme portability.  I always enjoy hearing, “My first video borescope rolled around in a big suitcase.  I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW LIGHT THIS IS!”.  The Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) folks constantly told me how great the VJ-ADV would work on their PT6 and other high end turbine engine inspections.

One of my favorite parts of the Regional Airline Association tradeshow was passion the people had for aviation.  I heard more than once, not only do I work with in this type of capacity for the aviation industry, but airplanes are my hobby.  I own this type of plane, and always thought a high end borescope would be out of my budget.  Particularly when the pilots were referring to their personal reciprocating engines, they told me the 6.9mm outside diameter would be more than small enough to complete their inspections.

Overall, I would have to say it was an incredibly successful trade show for RF System Lab and the VJ-ADV Video Borescope.  I’m already looking forward to next year.
